1) AAUW Scholarship

AAUW advances equality for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. AAUW breaks through educational and economic barriers so that all women have a fair chance. AAUW is a nationwide network of more than 170,000 members and supporters, 1,000 local branches, and 800 college and university partners.

AAUW is one of the nation’s largest sources of private funding exclusively for educational programs that directly benefit women and girls. Every year AAUW awards fellowships and grants to more than 200 women. In principle and practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or class.

Who Can Apply Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis according to funds available in a given fiscal year. Preference is given to women who show prior commitment to the advancement of women and girls through civic, community, or professional work. 2) Abe Bailey Travel Bursary

The Trustees of the Abe Bailey Trust will make available to students (who are third year and above) at this University and/or members of the staff of Junior Lecturer status, a travel bursary during the period 26 November – 20 December 2014. It is an all expenses paid three week educational tour to the United Kingdom.

The objective of the Travel Bursary is to broaden the views of young South Africans by enabling OUTSTANDING South African Students / University staff of Junior Lecturer status that show exceptional leadership qualities are of good academic standing and have a strong service ethic:

  • A letter from each of three referees (not older than three years) reporting on the character,
  • leadership qualifications and personality of the nominee, to accompany the application; and
  • A letter of motivation (essential)
  • Copies of ID, matric certificate and a university academic record

  • Details of leadership roles in the community, at school and at university
  • Extra-curricular activities at school and university

3) African Scholars’ Fund (FET College)

The future of our country lies with its youth. We aim to give our youth hope, to equip them with skills for life and to help them become responsible citizens of this wonderful country.

Value of bursary Bursaries only cover course fees and registration. Bursaries do not cover accommodation.

Who can apply? Students wishing to attend Public FET colleges in the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and North West Provinces. – Applicants must not be older than 25 years of age. – A minimum of grade 10 with Maths and Science is required for technical courses. – If already at college, a minimum of 50% in all tests and exams is required (60% for Orientation courses).

4) Athlone Institute Bursary Project Fund Cape Town

About The Athlone Institute was initially built as a Teacher’s Training School, with an accompanying Practicing School, for the training of teachers from post-STD. VI-level. This building in Berlyn Street, Paarl, was eventually utilized as a High School which, until then, became known as the Noorder Paarl High School.

Value Awards are variable and cover a percentage of the cost of tuition, registration and books

Who can apply? Residents of Paarl or Mbekweni, in good standing of one of the member churches of the AIT, enrolling for full-time undergraduate studies at recognised tertiary institution. Also to 2nd and 3rd year students.

5) British American Tobacco SA Bursary

6) CETA Bursary Programme

The Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) supports training, education and skills development in the construction industry.

Value The bursary will cover tuition fees, prescribed books and course material. Notwithstanding this, the amount available for prescribed books and course material will be capped at R3500 per annum.

Duration The continuation of bursaries for subsequent years of study will be subject to the satisfactory progress of the student and the availability of funds.

Tenable Any recognised South African tertiary institution

Who can apply? In order to be eligible for a bursary, applicants will have to fulfill the following criteria: have an NSC, have successfully completed one or more years of study at a recognised tertiary institution, be South African citizens.

Service contract The student, upon successful completion of his/her studies, will be expected to work in a South African based construction company for an amount of time equal to the number of years for which he/she received assistance/f

7) Gauteng City Region Academy (GCRA) (FET College) Bursary

About The GCR Academy is a branch within Gauteng Department of Education set up to build relevant knowledge, skills and talent in order to reduce the high unemployment rate. One of the key focus areas is in the management of bursaries, learnerships and internships for young people. The bursaries are targeted matriculants from non fee paying schools within Gauteng.

9) Monash (Undergraduate Scholarship)

About Monash South Africa a campus of Monash University Australia is an institution of higher education situated in Johannesburg South Africa. The Monash South Africa scholarship process occurs twice a year in November and May. Monash South Africa scholarships are available to South African and International students. Scholarships are offered to students to encourage and reward academic excellence in previous studies.

Who Can Apply Current Monash students with a General Point Average (GPA) of 3.3 and above. Commencing students with an Achievement Level of 40 and above. In addition, to be eligible for a Monash South Africa scholarship you must: i. be enrolled or have received an offer to enrol as a full-time student at Monash South Africa in an undergraduate course of study leading to a higher education award; ii. not be a recipient of any other financial support award; iii. be studying Year 12 or equivalent (South Africa citizen) or be studying in the final year of secondary school or equivalent (international); or iv. be a current Monash South Africa student and have completed a minimum of one semester of study at Monash South Africa;

10) NEET (National Economic Education Trust Fund) Bursary

About NEET was established to support the educational progress of high-potential students from disadvantaged backgrounds, with a special focus on maths and science learners. The NEET focuses on identifying and preparing Grade 12 students to be ready and to study at tertiary institutions.

Who Can Apply Matric (Grade 11) students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have applied to and received acceptance into University or University of Technology.

13) PPS Chairman’s Fund – Bursary Fund

About PPS bursaries are awarded on financial need and academic record to full time university students. To be eligible for the 2014 awards, the student must be registered at a participating South African University or University of Technology (listed below) registering for a fourth academic year of study or post-graduate degree and must be studying towards a profession, which on qualification, would be eligible for PPS membership.

Value PPS bursaries are awarded on financial need basis and scholarships on academic excellence. The bursaries are paid directly to the university where the recipient is studying and are administered by the university to cover university fees and textbook costs.

About PwC offers a training contract, usually a learnership contract for three years; this will also depend on your qualifications when you join the firm. Your application will be strengthened by evidence of several important personal characteristics: your self-confidence, effective communication skills, a teamwork orientation, and independent thinking and active leadership.

17) SAA Cadet Pilot Training Bursary

About The SAA Cadet Pilot Development Programme is a bursary award programme aimed at assisting successful candidates with funding to obtain a frozen Airline Transport Pilot’s License.

About: The Access Trust Bursary is intended for students who plan on studying at a public TVET (Technical Vocational Education and Training) college.
