Value Recommendations will be made on a sliding scale in terms of parents income as follow: R0 – R120 000 (Tuition, Meals, Books, Accommodation), R121 000 – R150 000 (Tuition, Meals and Accommodation) R151 000 – R200 000 (Tuition, Accommodation, Books), R201 000 – R250 000 (Tuition, Accommodation), R251 000 – R300 000 (Tuition only)

3) Department of Health Limpopo Bursary / Scholarship

Optometry, BSC Diet/ Nutation, B. social work, National Dip: Orthotics/Prosthetic, MA. clinical psychology, B. Radiology, ND. clinical Engineering, B.A. Community Development, B. TECH. Emergency Care

Who Can Apply South Africans living in LImpopo Province, from poverty-stricken households, studying in one of the above fields.

Value Payments are made to the tertiary institutions on behalf of the bursars which cover the following major items as per the tertiary approved fee schedule for each academic year: Tuition – 100% Meals – 100% Accommodation – 100% Registration – 100% Book Allowance as determined from time to time.

Service Contract The Bursary is granted subject to the prospective bursary holders entering into Contractual Agreement with Department to the effect that upon completion of their studies, they will be compelled to serve Limpopo Department of Health and Social Development the number of years equivalent to the period of financial assistance without an option of a transferring the obligations to elsewhere.

4) Department of Health Western Cape Bursary

The Western Cape Department of Health offers a limited number of bursaries for full-time study each year in fields where a shortage of skills has been identified. The aim of the bursary is to attract qualified persons with the required competencies, knowledge and skills to join the Department to meets its service delivery needs. For example, the following bursaries per health science study field are sometimes awarded: Nursing Medical (MBChB) Pharmacy Radiography Emergency Medical Care Please note more health science study fields may be added per academic year based on Departmental service delivery needs.

Who Can Apply To apply for one of these bursaries you must be: A South African citizen or permanent resident. A resident of the Western Cape Able to prove financial need. Ideally from a historically disadvantaged background. Be accepted at the relevant accredited HEI.

Value Tuition (Actual study fees), registration and examination fees. If you fail an academic year, you will have to repeat that year at your own cost, after which the bursary will be reinstated for the following academic year, if you pass.

Duration 1 year renewable

Service Contract The bursaries are awarded on a work-back system – on a year for a year basis. Community service year will count towards the student’s 1st year of bursary obligation, although internship years will not. Students may start paying, that is working, back their bursary obligation as soon as they have successfully completed their studies.
