1) Webber Wentzel Law Bursary

Webber Wentzel is a law firm that offers ten R30 000 scholarships per year to law students in their pre-final year of LLB studies. The scholarship covers tuition and residence fees as well as the cost of textbooks.

Requirements:

  • Students must be in their pre-final year
  • Students should have excellent marks

Other factors that are taken into account are:

  • Whether students are from a previously disadvantaged background
  • Whether students can show that they need financial aid

When applying, students should provide the following:

  • A detailed curriculum vitae
  • A copy of the academic transcripts of any undergraduate qualification (and any other relevant qualification)
  • The academic transcripts of your LLB degree courses up to, and including November in the last year of complete study
  • A copy of your matric certificate
  • A letter of motivation.

2) Attorneys Fidelity Fund Bursary

Value Amount varies, tuition fees

Duration A maximum period of 2 years

Tenable Any South African university

Who can apply? The minimum requirement for qualification for such a bursary is a BA (Law), B Comm (Law), B Iuris or B Proc degree or a similar qualification or proof of successful completion of the first two years of the revised 4-year LLB curriculum. If you are currently in your 1st semester of your second year, we can assist with a bursary for your 3rd and 4th year of study.

3) Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr (Graduates) Bursary

About Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr is one of the largest business law firms in South Africa with some 115 directors/partners and 200 qualified lawyers, located at offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Who can apply? South African citizen who is a full-time student at a South African university for the LLB degree. Award based on financial merit, academic performance and proven excellence in any other field.

4) Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr (Tim Mills Memorial Bursary)

Value The bursary will cover university/tuition fees only up to a maximum total amount of R25 000 per student for the duration of his/her studies.

Duration This bursary may be awarded on an annual basis. The bursary committee reserves the right not to award this bursary in any particular year.

Who can apply? The Tim Mills Memorial Bursary is awarded to candidates intending to register for any LLM degree at a South African university. To be considered for this bursary you must meet the following criteria:
• Must be a citizen or a permanent resident of South Africa
• Must have completed an LLB degree at a South Africa University
• Must have applied for and been accepted for LLM studies at a South African University
• Must complete this application form and submit all supporting documentation before the deadline.

Service contract The successful candidate will be required to – provide updated academic results and progress reports if and when required; attend one of the Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr vacation programmes for law students and agree to a right

6) SA Institute of Race Relations (SAIRR) (Law) Bursary

About The national bursary programme of the Institute dates back to 1935. Since then our students, among them Mr. Nelson Mandela, who won a bursary worth £120 in the late 1940s, have served the country in almost every field of endeavour.
