1) Anglo American Thermal Coal Bursary – Anglo American

Value Full tuition fees, meal allowance,, accommodation, study material and computer allowance.

Who can apply? Grade 12s with Mathematics and Physical Sciences on Level 5. Specific focus is placed on students from our host communities, especially historically disadvantaged South Africans.

Closing date 31 May annually

About Anglo American We’re the world’s third largest exporter of metallurgical coal, operating in Australia and Canada. We wholly own and operate seven thermal coal mines in South Africa, and hold a 73% shareholding in Inyosi Coal, a broad-based black economic empowerment (BEE) company. Outside of South Africa, we also have operations in Australia and Colombia.

2) Bodene Bursaries

Value R40 000 maximum, at the discretion of the sponsor

Tenable Any South African institution offering these courses.

Who can apply? • BPharmacy degree: students who have passed first year and been accepted for second year, • BSc (Chemistry) degree: students who have passed first year and been accepted for second year,National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering: students who have passed and completed semesters 1 and 2.

Service contract Service contract with Bodene, namely one year’s service with Bodene for each year of the bursary, internship at Bodene, and experiential learning at Bodene as per Bodene bursary agreement

3) Engen Bursary

About Engen will be awarding bursaries to top students for a variety of BSc and Bcom degrees. Students currently at university studying towards any of the degrees listed below and matric learners who intend to follow any of the degrees below may apply. BCom Accounting; BCom Auditing; BCom Transport; BCom Procurement; BCom Credit Management; BSc Chemical Engineering; BSc Environmental Science; BSc Civil Engineering; BSc Metallurgy; BSc Chemistry; BSc Industrial Engineering; BSc Mechanical Engineering; BTech Credit Management.

4) Pretoria Portland Cement Bursary Scheme (Member Barlows)

Fields of study Chemistry, Engineering

Who Can Apply Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering (Light and Heavy current). All years. All SA students studying full-time at any recognised SA university.

5) Richards Bay Minerals Bursaries

About Richards Bay Minerals (RBM) is a world leader in sand mining and mineral processing operations, producing titanium minerals, high purity iron, rutile and zircon. Every year we take on four to eight new bursars and support them for the duration of their studies.

Fields of study Accounting, Chemistry, Engineering, Geology

Who Can Apply To be considered for a bursary, an applicant should have aspirations to pursue one of the following disciplines: Mining, electrical, chemical or mechanical engineering Metallurgy Geology/surveying/drilling Chemistry Environmental science Accounting

Value Tuition and residence fees

Duration 1 year, renewable

Service Contract Upon successful completion of their studies, bursary holders are taken on as graduates-in-training. They are required to work for RBM for the same number of years for which their studies were financed.
